The kitchen chose me: Alessandro Fornaro, sous chef from Ciccio Sultano’s restaurant

 

«It was the kitchen that found me – Alessandro Fornaro, sous chef at Ciccio Sultano’s Restaurant in Ibla, says – becoming a cook was natural, because it was a choice already made. I was born a stone’s throw from the main square of Chiaramonti Gulfi in a small street where, next to my parents’ grocery store, there was a fresh pasta shop and a bar laboratory.
From 2014 to 2020, Fornaro was in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Macao, in restaurants such as 8 ½ Bombana and Beef bar Born in Montecarlo, holding the roles of chef de partie, assistant executive chef, sous chef and chef de cuisine. When asked what does cooking mean for him, his unconventional answer is: «a way of expressing sincerity. This latter is not just reaching the perfection of a recipe, but sharing the pleasure and amazement of those who taste that dish ».
