Wine Spectator confirms 2 glasses for Ciccio Sultano’s Restaurant cellar
Wine Spectator confirmed the Best Award for Excellence for it’s 2019 Wine Program for the cellar at Ciccio Sultano’s Duomo Restaurant, once again winning two out of three glasses. Sultano’s cellar, the only one in Sicily with two glasses, is therefore among the twenty-five best in Italy.
«I would like to share this recognition – says Ciccio Sultano – with my clientele and, of course, with my two sommeliers. Today, we have a cellar with 8,000 bottles, 1,400 labels, seventy percent from Italy the rest from abroad.
Our aim is to choose only the best wineries in terms of quality and price. I want to say that, since the 2 glasses last year, we have increased the Burgundy from 2014 and 2015 vintages and purchased premier 2018 wines from Burgundy and Champagne. It’s also worth noting, 2018 in Champagne has been considered the best vintage of the last two hundred years».
«It is interesting to note – adds Antonio Currò, the restaurant’s first sommelier – that a demand for elegant wines rather than for structured wines is emerging».
